This is a 6-month mandate in La Paz, Bolivia.
The mandate stems from the Equality in Action Voluntary Cooperation Program (PCV), which is being rolled out in 12 countries and 3 regions over an eight-year period (2020-2028). The PCV aims to increase the involvement of local partner organizations in countries of intervention in inclusive, innovative and sustainable initiatives that will advance gender equality. Oxfam's role is to support these organizations, working with the most vulnerable and marginalized people, to claim and exercise their rights. Oxfam puts the rights of women, girls and vulnerable and marginalized people at the heart of everything we do.
Context:
The Life-Changing Enterprises (ECV) program, part of Oxfam's programs in Bolivia, supports the emergence and development of micro, small and medium-sized enterprises in sectors likely to have a positive social and environmental impact. To achieve this, ECV uses a methodology that integrates both development and business approaches. ECV occupies the space between the world of development and that of social or impact investment, positioning itself in what is known as the “Missing Middle”, i.e. businesses that have financial needs beyond microcredit but do not yet have the size or capacity to access the financial services of commercial banks.
Since 2015, ECV has been promoting the creation and development of impactful small and medium-sized enterprises, generating jobs, stable incomes and opportunities for women. ECV currently supports 5 businesses by facilitating access to finance, developing the capacity of the entrepreneurial team through technical assistance with a partner organization such as FUNDES and, fundamentally, promoting social impact focused on equality, equity and sustainability.
