Director, Quaker United Nations Office Geneva

Closing date

The Quaker United Nations Office in Geneva is looking for its next leader.
Our current Director has been in post for over ten years and is retiring this year. This affords a unique opportunity to take the work forward and there could not be a more crucial time to serve the world in this way.
We seek an exceptional individual who is a member of the Religious Society of Friends (Quakers) and whose values exemplify the Quaker fundamentals of integrity, equality, simplicity, community, stewardship of the Earth, and peace. We need someone who is passionately committed to building peace and justice and who possesses the understanding and sensitivity necessary to encourage and facilitate change in the complex arena of diplomacy, non-governmental agencies and with other stakeholder organisations. A deep understanding and experience of change management is therefore key.
The new Director will deeply understand the values, skills and attributes consistent with the Quaker approach to work and life. In terms of leadership style and preferences they will engender spiritual sustainment for the QUNO team which we see as an essential part of the role.
Since the inception of the UN the Quaker United Nations Office has earned a deeply appreciated and unique reputation globally. The new Director will be responsible for maintaining and developing this status and for enhancing the partnership between QUNO Geneva and QUNO New York.
We are particularly interested in receiving applications from those with diverse backgrounds and from any part of the world subject to the candidate being open to travel and being based at Quaker House in Geneva.
