We are currently looking for Project Officers to join the Institute’s Project Management team working on a variety of cutting-edge research, analysis and advisory projects within the continuously expanding portfolios of ODI’s programmes. The Project Officers (PO) will oversee the day-to-day development and management of low to medium complexity projects, of low to medium value, and a low to medium risk factor. These projects might have a large number of contractors, a limited number of institutional partners and up to three donors working with either single or multiple currencies. Projects can either be single or multi-year and require the delivery of multiple outputs.

The PO will be responsible for the full project management cycle, coordinating the delivery of outputs to time and to budget by taking ownership of project workplans, liaising with internal and external stakeholders and maintaining up to date information on project finances, delivery and timeline. They will identify issues that might pose a risk to projects and/or to the organisation and work with colleagues to manage and mitigate potential risks. The PO will contribute to business development activities in line with their expertise, including coordinating proposals and/or providing support to senior PM function staff responsible for complex tenders.

Other key responsibilities include:

· Donor financial and contractual monitoring and narrative and financial reporting.

· Subcontractor and partner coordination and contractual management

· Coordination of project deliverables according to workplan

· Providing general support to the relevant projects and teams

About you

· Knowledge of the project cycle management and experience managing projects of low to medium size and complexity throughout the full project cycle

· High level of numeracy and strong experience in monitoring budgets

· Experience in managing donor compliance and donor reporting (financial and narrative)

· Excellent communication skills, including good written and spoken English.

· Multitasking skills in a results-focused environment.

· Ability to work to work under pressure and to strict deadlines

· Strong planning, organisation and execution skills

· Advanced IT skills including Excel, Word, Outlook, PowerPoint and databases.

· An interest in international development and humanitarian issues is desirable.

· Educated to degree level.
