Head of Humanitarian Policy and Technical Support

ActionAid are recruiting for a Head of Humanitarian Policy and Technical Support to take responsibility for ActionAid UK’s overall technical and thought leadership in line with ActionAid UK’s new strategy.

ActionAid is an international charity that works with women and girls living in poverty. Our dedicated local staff are changing the world with women and girls. We are ending violence and fighting poverty so that all women, everywhere, can create the future they want.

As our Head of Policy and Technical Support, you will play a significant role in facilitating business development and programme support including seeking out opportunities for resource mobilisation for research and programme policy work. You will oversee and support technical inputs and advice contributing to ActionAid’s humanitarian programmes and responses globally.

An important part of this role is to lead a very talented group of technical specialists and policy specialists. Your role will be to bring vison, cohesion and intellectual dialogue together to create a strong culture of performance and collaboration. Therefore, it is essential that you have proven experience of managing a diverse team, along with the ability to support staff in cross- cultural settings.

In order to succeed within this role, it is essential that you have substantial experience of humanitarian policy work on women’s rights, including at field level, along with strong ‘in country’ experience of responding to humanitarian crisis.

We are keen to receive applications from those with experience in women’s rights programming in humanitarian contexts.

To thrive within this role, it is essential that you have a strong understanding of research approaches and collaboration with academic institutions, along with experience in successfully linking policy and research work with meeting funding objectives.
