Time Commitment: 40 hours per week, 6 month commitment, ability to commute to Beqa’a Valley with team transportation

Start date: 12 November 2019

Compensation: 300 USD per month

Jusoor (which means ‘bridges’ in Arabic) is an international NGO founded in 2011 with the mission of Investing in Syria’s Youth for a Better Tomorrow. In the short span of 7 years, the organization has become known as a leading global actor in educational and entrepreneurial programs for Syrian children and youth. To date, Jusoor has enabled more than 607 Syrian students to complete their university education, enrolled over 7,000 children in primary education, and supported 500 Syrian entrepreneurs. The organization is known for its innovative approach to development challenges, high-velocity execution, and the strength of its global strategic partnerships and its active volunteer base.

In this role you’ll have the opportunity to gain experience by working across our organization with a variety of team members on event logistics and implementation of communications initiatives.

The Intern will support Intern will support through producing communications materials and reports for the Refugee Education Program and with ensuring knowledge transfer and sustainability for communications and other programmatic areas.

Responsibilities:

  • Documenting activities at Jusoor thorough photos and story telling

  • Producing vibrant and engaging reports for donors and partners

  • Organizing existing communication materials to make them accessible for usage by other team members

  • Assist with internal communications strategies

  • Assist with designing promotional materials

  • Assist with promotional video production

  • Participating in writing the annual report for 2018

  • Conducting research and analyzing data

  • Collaborating with staff on new ideas, directions, and strategies for marketing and communications

  • Working on infographics, videos or other multimedia content

  • Helping plan and implement social media campaigns that inform and influence

  • Undertake comms audit of Jusoor's existing comms resources

  • Contribute to the enhancement of Jusoor website – updating content, SEO, blogs, press releases, AdWords etc.

  • Assist in planning and executing communications and digital media strategies

Requirements:

  • Passionate about storytelling and communications

  • Excellent writing and communication skills

  • Strong attention to detail

  • Strong organizational and time management skills

  • Excellent ability to work well under deadlines

  • Proficient computer skills and use of Microsoft Office and G suite

  • Commitment to the vision and mission of Jusoor

  • Ability to plan, organize and present ideas clearly and concisely both orally and in writing

  • Read, write, speak, understand, and communicate in English and Arabic

Preferred;

  • Social media knowledge and experience

  • Familiarity with Google Drive/Docs/Analytics/SEO/Adwords etc.

  • Experienced with WordPress and MailChimp

  • Experience with graphic design and video production preferred (Adobe Creative Suite)
