Are you interested in using your Engineering skills, knowledge and experience within Emergency Response and willing to work anywhere, in challenging circumstances, at a moment's notice? The British Red Cross Mass Sanitation Module (MSM) 20 Emergency Response Unit (ERU) are currently recruiting for Sanitation Engineers.

The British Red Cross maintains a roster of vetted and trained personnel ready to be deployed anywhere on short notice in response to international emergencies (natural disasters, conflict, epidemics or other emergencies). Missions are typically four weeks and delegates work closely with the local Red Cross or Red Crescent National Society to provide specific services where local infrastructure is damaged, temporarily out of use or insufficient to cope with the needs.

We are looking for Sanitation Engineers with international experience to be part of this on-call team. You must have a strong technical base and practical experience in the field of leading emergency sanitation programs, including both hardware and software activities, ideally for international humanitarian organisations. You must be willing to be on call for a minimum of one month per year and travel at short notice (24 - 48 hours) to relief operations during this on-call period.

Roster members must be within 12 hours of the London UK Office - this includes an 8-hour flight maximum, and airport transfers whilst "'on call' and undertaking trainings. Please detail how this applies to you in your supporting statement.

Candidates do not need the right to work in the UK. However, please note that you must already have the appropriate visa(s) in place to attend the required training and attend briefings within the UK. The British Red Cross is unable to sponsor candidates.

Candidates who are already in employment with other organisations but who can be released at short notice are welcome to apply.

To be accepted onto the ERU you will be required to satisfactorily complete the following training:
* ERU Foundation & IMPACT (International Mobilisation and Preparation for Action) - 23 - 27 April 2020- 5 day residential course

* MSM Specialist Training- 04-09 September 2020 - 6.5 day residential course

Accreditation for prior learning may be considered and exemptions to parts of the above courses may be taken into consideration.

Closing date for receipt of completed applications is 28th November 2019.

Please note successful applicants will be invited to complete an online technical test followed by a telephone technical interview. These will be held over November and early December 2019. Candidates who pass these stages of the selection process will be invited to a one day Selection Day which will be held in London on of the following dates 31st January, 3rd, 4th, 5th, 6th February 2020.
