Logistics Emergency Response Unit Team Member

Job
from British Red Cross
Closing date: 15 Dec 2019

Are you interested in using your logistics skills, knowledge and experience within Emergency Response? Does the idea of working anywhere, in challenging circumstances, at a moment's notice sound interesting? The British Red Cross Logistics Emergency Response Unit (ERU) is currently recruiting for logistic specialists to join its international emergency response roster.

The British Red Cross maintains a roster of vetted and trained personnel ready to be deployed anywhere on short notice in response to international emergencies (natural disasters, conflict or smaller-scale emergencies). Deployments are typically four weeks and delegates work closely with the local Red Cross National Society to provide specific services where local infrastructure is damaged, temporarily out of use or insufficient to cope with the needs.

We are currently looking for experienced Logisticians from the fields of Air Operations or/and Warehousing/Transport with international experience to be part of this on call team. You must have a strong technical base and experience in either warehouse and transport management, airport/seaport clearance or vehicle fleet management. You must be willing to be available for minimum 1 deployment per year and to potentially travel at short notice (24 -48 hours) to relief operations.

In your application please outline which of the above profiles you are interested to be considered for. You can apply to multiple profiles.

Roster members must be within 12 hours travel time (including a maximum 8-hour flight) from London. Please detail how this applies to you in your supporting statement.

Candidates who are already in employment with other organisations but who can be released at short notice are welcome to apply.

We will put all new recruits through the necessary training on emergency response.

To be accepted onto the ERU you will be required to complete online training and attend the following face to face training:
* ERU Foundation IMPACT 23 - 27 April 2020- 5 day residential course
* HEAT - 28 April - 03 May 2020 - 6 day residential course
* Logistics Technical Training - 02-07 July 2020 - 5.5 day residential course

Accreditation for prior learning may be considered and exemptions to parts of the above courses may be taken into consideration. Please refer to the candidate guide for more information on the training pathway.

Closing date for receipt of completed applications is 28th November 2019.

Please note successful applicants will be invited to complete an online technical test followed by a telephone technical interview. These will be held over November and early December 2019. Candidates who pass these stages of the selection process will be invited to a one-day Selection Day which will be held in London on of the following dates 31st January, 3rd, 4th, 5th, 6th February 2020.

Candidates must guarantee they are available to attend one of the selection day dates and all of the face to face training pathway.
