MMC West Africa Consultancy on community dynamics around migration in Niger’s region of Zinder

The Mixed Migration Centre (MMC) is a leading source for independent and high-quality data, information, research and analysis on mixed migration. Through the provision of evidence and expertise, the MMC aims to support agencies, policy makers and practitioners to make well-informed decisions, to positively impact global and regional migration policies, to contribute to protection and assistance responses for people on the move and to stimulate forward thinking in the sector responding to mixed migration.

The MMC is developing a Briefing Paper on community dynamics around migration in Niger’s region of Zinder and seeks for a consultancy that will include:

  • Comprehensive literature review
  • Development of research tools in coordination with MMC West Africa
  • Identification of research locations by consultant and local researchers in conjunction with MMC
  • Training of local researchers to research plan, tools, approach
  • Initial KIIs with community leaders to gather information/facilitate access
  • Initial Focus Group Discussions with returnees and potential migrants to test/enrich questions and finalize research tools
  • Interviews and focus group discussions by local researchers;
  • Review/cleaning/coding of data by consultant – to be shared with MMC
  • Analysis of data and drafting of Briefing Paper in English
  • Preparation of an Executive Summary with key findings
  • Review by MMC West Africa and incorporation of MMC feedback
