Community Support Programme Manager
AAR Japan started working in Turkey in response to Van Earthquake 2011 and was one of the first international Non-Governmental Organizations (NGO) on the ground responding to the Syrian Crisis. Since 2012, AAR Japan has implemented cross-sectoral projects on basic needs, education, food security, protection and health targeting urban refugees in Gaziantep, Şanlıurfa, Mardin and Istanbul.
The project’s overall goal, on one hand, is to contribute in building a protective environment for people with disabilities by addressing their health issues, protection risks, and their vulnerabilities and on the other hand, facilitating durable solutions for Persons with Disabilities (PWDs) in their interest.
AAR Japan is looking for a Community Support Program Manager who will be positioned in Sanliurfa/ Mardin or Istanbul.
AAR Japan is looking for Technical Programme Manager for Community Based Child protection & Rehabilitation for PWDs Project for refugees and host communities. The project activities are as follows:
Outreach to provide refugees with information about their rights and obligations in Turkey.
Raising awareness sessions for refugees on the topics supporting community mobilization toward persons with disabilities and children protection. Formation and supporting community committee structures for community small scale projects serving children protection and PWDs and their families.
Develop program implementation strategies and approaches to facilitate the empowerment of people with disabilities and children to promote their inclusion and participation in development and decision-making processes in their communities;
Capacity building of the communities to remove barriers that exclude persons with disabilities, and ensuring the full and effective participation of all persons with disabilities in their communities, on an equal basis with others;
Capacity building of the communities to establish community referral mechanisms and to strengthen their accessibility to child protection services;
Develop age, gender and diversity-sensitive, awareness-raising modules on protection and health topics related to PWDs from both refugees and host communities;
Provide trainings for all program staff members on community mobilization for inclusiveness of person with disabilities and children in their communities;
Draft standard operating procedures for community support activities including work flow and organization roles of implementation teams;
In coordination with programme director train and guide project staffs on how to run and facilitate community meetings within the program scope;
Support AAR Japan senior management in developing activities monitoring and evaluation systems;
Conduct monitoring and evaluation exercises for activities in all program sites;
Overall technical support to program implementation teams and field offices of AAR Japan
Report to programme director on ad hoc and monthly basis;
Required Qualification and Experiences
- Bachelor degree in sociology, social work or any relevant studies.
- At least 5 years of professional experience including at least 3 year in a relevant field.
Experience/ability to influence internal and external stakeholders
Experience/ability to write, review and to ensure that any report submitted are of the highest quality.
Ability to work collaboratively within a team.
Excellent personal organizational skills, including time management, and ability to meet deadlines and work under pressure.
Must be self-motivated and able to work closely with managers and implementation staff as needed.
Regular monthly travel required.
- Master degree in relevant studies.
- Ability to speak and write Turkish, Kurdish
- Ability to create vision and strategy and to inspire people.
