Core Functions / Responsibilities:

  1. Provide return-relevant information to the Swiss State Secretariat for Migration
    (SEM), the cantonal return counseling offices, pre-departure training providers and
    others by implementing IOM Bern’s RIF-program (Return Information Fund) for
    special regions / countries of origin (Western Africa).
  2. Provide specific operational return and reintegration assistance for individual
    returnees in close collaboration with the relevant IOM units in Headquarters and the
    Field, as well as with the relevant Swiss counterparts, by implementing IOM Bern’s
    SIM-program (swissREPAT-IOM Movements) and by implementing IOM Bern’s

    R.A.S.-program (Reintegration Assistance Services Switzerland) for special

  3. Process files of candidates for AVRR, including data entry in related databases,
    handling and archiving of related invoices and communication, updating statistics
    and periodical reports as required.
  4. Liaise with external partners and the diaspora for projects concerning the Western
    Africa Region.
  5. Prepare statistical analysis, narrative reports / communications as required.
  6. Undertake duty travel within Switzerland and abroad and inform different
    representatives about ongoing projects and activities of IOM Bern. Replace other
    IOM Bern colleagues during periods of absence as required.
  7. Perform such other duties as may be assigned by the Chief of Mission.

Required Qualifications and Experience
Education
 University degree in Social Sciences or a related field from an accredited academic
institution, with three years of relevant professional experience, preferably in Return
Counselling or similar roles; or
 Completed High School degree from an accredited academic institution, with five
years of relevant professional experience.
Experience
 Demonstrated experience in return management or in a similar role involving
logistical work related to migrants and/or asylum seekers;
 Previous work experience in international organizations and knowledge of the field of
AVRR;
 Prior experience in liaison with Government and Non-Government counterparts in a
returning counselling setting would be an advantage.
Languages
Fluency in French, English and German are required.
