Communications Specialist

Job Summary:

PADF seeks a Guyana-based Communications Specialist for an U.S. Department of State-funded regional project focused on assisting Venezuelan migrants, refugees and other vulnerable persons in Guyana and Trinidad and Tobago. The Communications Specialist will be responsible for the design, implementation, and operation of communications activities for the program, including the development of the communications strategy and products.

Major Duties and Responsibilities:

• Coordinate communications activities according to the approved work plan and in consultation with the project director

• Design project communications strategy, including identification and incorporation of gender-inclusive considerations

• Develop communications products, such as videos, graphics, podcasts, reports, and short stories

• Liaise with PADF headquarters, project director, potential partner organizations, beneficiaries, and public and private sector actors in Guyana and Trinidad and Tobago, as needed

• Support data collection and surveying, as needed

• Train staff and partners, as needed

• Ensure that benchmarks and deliverables are completed on time

• Prepare high-quality written reports

• Other duties as required

Education, Experience and Other Qualifications:

• Minimum three years of professional experience in communications work relevant to areas such as refugees/migrants, human rights, immigration, humanitarian assistance, or similar field

• Proven experience developing and implementing communications strategies through a variety of means, such as traditional, digital, and social media, and/or storytelling

• Ability to develop communications strategies using behavioral and social-change communication, including audience segmentation and social mobilization

• Professional experience with the U.S. Department of Labor is preferred

• Fluency in English is required; Spanish is a plus
