The International Institute of Rural Reconstruction (IIRR) has nearly 60 years of experience in empowering communities to overcome poverty as a global development entity through empowering marginalized rural people in Asia and Africa. Our strategy is delivered through innovative approaches that are integrated, people-centered and sustainable in the areas of health, education and environment. IIRR is registered in the USA with Headquarters in the Philippines. We have strong anti-poverty programs in eight (8) countries throughout Asia and Africa; the Philippines, Cambodia and Myanmar; and in Kenya, Ethiopia, Uganda, South Sudan, and Zimbabwe.

We are looking for very experienced candidates who have previously worked in one or more of the following areas:

· Health: Incl. Sexual and Gender based Violence, Nutrition, WASH, Child Health

· Education: Incl. Teacher Training, Child Protection/Rights, Curriculum Development

· Environment: Incl. Climate Change, DRR, Agriculture, Sustainability

· Livelihoods: Incl. Value Chain, Fisheries, Micro Insurance, Markets, PPPs

Duties: The Team Leader shall be the primary point of coordination for work implementation in the assigned country. The team leader shall interface directly with the country director to ensure effective management. The team leader shall:

· Provide direction on program matters with a full understanding of IIRR activities

· Be responsible for the successful implementation of project activities and achievement of contract obligations

· Be responsible for the day-to-day operations and management of the team and ensure that project activities and work products are of excellent quality, completed on-time and in compliance with client regulations

· Maintain frequent communication and interaction with relevant country director

· Ensure that IIRR maintains positive working relationships with the authorities in question

· Conduct meetings to further IIRR programmatic delivery

· Ensure project compliance with relevant policies

· Directly manage and evaluate the performance of program components

· Be responsible for all program reports and deliverables

· Have overall responsibility for implementation of the Work Plan according to our performance tool, monitoring and evaluation matrix, and other indicators

· Work to identify staffing issues, develop plans to correct problems, and to initiate changes in consultation with the country director

· Assist in identifying and screening short-term and long-term candidates for IIRR

· Perform other duties as assigned


· A minimum of fifteen (15) years of experience in senior management roles that included strategic planning, program management, resource management and budgeting

· A minimum of seven years of experience in team leadership

· A minimum of two years of experience in managing complex, international programs of comparable scope to IIRR

· Bachelor’s degree required (Master’s degree preferred) from an accredited institution.

· The candidate must have experience living and working in developing countries

· The ability to work effectively in a fast-paced, stressful environment. In addition, he/she must be flexible, willing to perform other duties and work irregular hours.

· The team leader must be able to cite past professional or personal experience that demonstrates an ability to work creatively and effectively in stressful situations while maintaining a positive attitude

· The team leader must have experience developing positive, professional relationships with clients, colleagues, or business partners. Interpersonal and leadership skills are tremendously important as they ensure that the team leader can work as an effective leader of the team, forge successful partnerships, and set a positive, motivating and constructive tone for IIRR staff. Superior interpersonal skills shall be understood to include the ability to interact and lead in a constructive, cooperative, and harmonious manner; to work effectively as a team player; to establish positive relationships and gain the confidence of others

· The team leader must demonstrate the highest caliber communication skills, including oral briefing abilities, and the ability to draft clear, precise written statements. Oral briefing and writing skills are critical in ensuring that the team leader is capable of communicating relevant events and necessary action items

· The team leader shall have strong personal references and no unexplained departures from overseas assignments
