E-Learning language course solution for MINT Project beneficiaries
Mentoring for Integration (of third-country national children affected by Migration)
Background information about MINT:
Recognizing the growing needs and challenges in Europe to implement more effective integration measures, MINT project aims to contribute to the successful integration of third-country national children residing in the EU, by enabling children and youth to fulfill their full potential and to lead secure, active and productive lives in the host societies, and enabling a better understanding of the intercultural benefits that interaction between newly arrived migrants and host societies bring.
The project builds on promising practices and tested models supporting the inclusion of vulnerable children, including migrant and refugee populations. In particular, the core methodology from the Big Brother Big Sister approach.
The Project will promote the inclusion of TCN children (in Romania, Poland, the Czech Republic, and Slovenia) in the social, cultural and political life of the host societies, as well as in education, through mentoring support; online language courses and cultural introduction; child-led awareness raising and advocacy actions.
Main outputs include a methodological framework comprising of mentoring guidance complemented with child-led awareness raising and advocacy guidelines, child-friendly e-learning integration tools and national and international advocacy events supported by child-led video material.
This two-year project seeks to achieve the following specific objectives:
Specific Objective 1: By the end of the intervention, at least 120 recently arrived children in the four targeted countries are enrolled in (formal or informal) education and actively participate in local recreational and social activities, thanks to the support provided by trained peer mentors and the building up of cohesive peer groups.
Specific Objective 2: By the end of the intervention, 1000 third-country national children in the four targeted countries have acquired basic knowledge and skills to engage in social relations, thanks to training on local languages and socio-cultural context provided by the project.
Specific Objective 3: By the end of the project, at least 240 TCN children and local youths are empowered and benefit from a welcoming atmosphere within the host society, thanks to the implementation of child-led awareness raising and advocacy initiatives aimed to counter stereotypes and to spread a positive image of migrant and refugee communities at local and national level.
Objectives of this call for proposals
To produce a gamified language learning experience that is accessible and engaging for third-country national children (aged 10- 18) in the four targeted countries.
A gamified curriculum hosted on an e-learning / micro-learning platform to teach migrant children (Age 10-18) the following languages, as a foreign language.
- The target is to reach at least 250 – 300 Children for each of the 4 languages above.
- It is preferable if the e-course is also available through computers (not only mobile applications), but not a must.
- The instruction language of the course has to be available in English and preferably in at least two of the following languages: Arabic, Pashtu and Farsi and Russian.
Specifications and requirements:
The proposal should include specifications as to which platform the content will be hosted on. Wherever possible we seek to leverage or adapt existing, proven platforms that are accessible to our user group, we are not seeking to develop a new platform.
The content should be hosted on a mobile application or mobile-friendly site that is compatible with the Android operating system.
Include a design methodology that assesses and captures the needs of the target child group, keeping in mind that the ultimate purpose of the course is supporting the integration of the children in their new societies.
The application and curriculum should be gamified and engaging using best practices in the microlearning and gamification fields.
The language course should start from an absolute beginner level and reach the intermediate level of language proficiency, with a total of at least 3 different levels or more (preferably in line with the European scale and covering A1, A2 and B1 levels).
The curriculum should include evaluations and these evaluations should be captured in the analytics.
The following information/ analytics should be gathered by the app:
● Name, age and gender.
● mother tongue,
● country of origin,
● other languages spoken,
● how long he/she lives in our country,
● participation in other language courses
● Time spent using the app by each user.
● Levels reached by each user.
● self-evaluated level of proficiency in the language.
The app should be ready to be tested by Tdh and its partners (if applicable) by 15th Sep 2019.
Launched and ready to be used by Beneficiaries by 30th Sep 2019
Qualified applicants should submit their proposal package to the following email address email@example.com by 18th June 2019.
The package should include the following documents:
● A proposal for a solution that takes into consideration all the specifications and requirements above.
● Providing a sample of a previously developed e-learning /micro-learning solution that is similar in nature is an advantage.
● A work plan and a timeline for finalizing the product.
● The total cost of the service.
