TREE AID is an international development organization based in Bristol, UK with a sub-office in Berlin and working in partnership and delivering community development projects in the drylands of West and East Africa. TREE AID helps people in the drylands of Africa to lift themselves out of poverty and protect their environment. People here live in some of the toughest conditions on earth and trees are essential to their survival. Trees provide nutrition, generate income and help to create a healthy environment. TREE AID works with local communities to help them protect and grow trees, for themselves and for future generations.

TREE AID Operations Team is looking for individuals hoping to gain valuable experience in the development sector by undertaking an international volunteering role in programme development and grant management. This role is aimed at those with an interest in fundraising, prospect research, report and proposal writing. Work will involve the research of new funding opportunities for TREE AID with an emphasis on German based trust, foundations and institutions, assisting the programme funding team with project development, concept note, proposal and report writing. This will include working in collaboration with our country offices in Ghana, Niger, Mali, Burkina Faso and Ethiopia.

Skills and Experience Required:

  • Working knowledge of Excel and Word software.

  • Exceptional writing skills in English and German (French a plus)

  • Strong organizational skills

  • Knowledge of results-based management and the project cycle advantageous (not essential).

  • Experience in international development and/or conservation sector would be advantageous

  • Experience working as part of a diverse team across multiple countries

  • Experience working as a volunteer

Commitment: One to two Days a week; minimum of two months (negotiable and opportunity to extend)
