Istanbul Membership Officer , Fluent in Arabic and Turkish

JOB BRIEF: The Membership Officer is the first point of contact for Karam House. S/he is responsible for communicating with all our students, parents, neighbors, and visitors from around the world via all communication methods (in-person, phone, email). S/he manages all membership databases, including the education platform, attendance, and visitor logs. S/he ensures our community spaces are used the way they are intended; this includes crowd control as well as infusing the space with interactive activities. His/her Duties include providing administrative support across the organization. S/he will welcome guests and greet people who visit Karam House and assist students in their understanding of Karam House and registration of workshops. S/he should have a strong personality, excellent communication skills, and high quality customer service.


Membership Management

  • Manage and maintain the student, membership and visitor databases at Karam House
  • Manage student enrollment in workshops, and assist students in registration
  • Assemble membership packages
  • Assist the Communications Coordinator with outreach and communications with members and greater community
  • Analyze, monitor, and report on student attendance trends

Community Space Management

  • Greet and welcome guests as soon as they arrive at Karam House
  • Ensure community spaces are organized, equipped, and safe
  • Manage our library and book-borrowing system
  • Organize interactive activities in community spaces
  • Log attendance of visitors, members, and staff
  • Schedule and perform site tours
  • Maintain security by following safety procedures and controlling access via the front desk (monitor logbook, issue visitor badges)
  • Crowd control

Organization Management

  • Direct visitors to the appropriate person and office
  • Answer, screen and forward incoming phone calls
  • Provide accurate information in-person and via phone/email
  • Receive, sort and distribute daily mail/deliveries
  • Update calendars and schedule meetings
  • Perform other clerical duties such as filing, photocopying, transcribing and faxing
  • Maintain the organization's data filing system
  • Attending professional development training as needed
  • Provide weekly & monthly reports to Site Manager
  • Other tasks as may be assigned by management


  • Proven work experience in Community Management, Customer Service or similar role
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office and/or Google Drive
  • Arabic + Turkish proficiency required
  • English proficiency preferred
  • Professional attitude and appearance
  • Solid written and verbal communication skills
  • Ability to be resourceful and proactive when issues arise
  • Excellent organizational skills
  • Multitasking and time-management skills, with the ability to prioritize tasks
  • Customer service attitude
  • Hands-on experience with office equipment (e.g. scanners and printers)

  • Valid Turkish Residency Permit, Reyhanli AFAD card, or Citizenship Required

REPORTS TO: Site Manager
LOCATION: Istanbul , Turkey
Contract length: 1 year– extendable

HOURS: Full-time, 40 hours per week.
SALARY: salary defined by the Karam Foundation salary grid and educational level*
