Under the supervision of the Monitoring & Information and Reporting Manager, the Reporting Officer (RO) will work closely with the Program team to generate and maintain the program’s information and communication needs. In a quick response environment driven by client demand, the Reporting Officer will utilize the information from program reporting, STTA reports, and information reports in the field to compile appropriate information products on program status and impact, including success stories, requests for information (RFI), regular deliverable reports, research reports, and ad hoc reports on how program implementation and status is responsive to particular issues.
The position is based in Berlin, Germany through December 31, 2018.
The Reporting Officer is supervised by the Information and Reporting Manager and will supervise no staff.
Focal point for FURAT information and communication needs;
Use information from program activities, STTA reports and field reporting to compile quick results information products on program status and impact, including RFIs and success stories;
Report program status and impact to a number of audiences and through a variety of formats;
Coordinates weekly report outputs, highlights and success stories, ad-hoc reporting and client RFIs, media monitoring, provides substantial inputs to Program team in writing of quarterly reports and client updates;
Provide critical inputs and analysis into draft reporting submitted from departments;
Provide regular mentorship and guidance to field staff to ensure quality reporting;
Review quality of all English version final reporting products prior to release.
Translate reports and project documents from Arabic to English and from English to Arabic
Contribute to monitoring and evaluation activities as requested
Provide guidance and support to media components of activities, as applicable;
Coordinates with Program team on program’s activity tracker, to ensure activities, commitments and disbursements are captured.
Utilizes critical inputs, feedback, and assessments to inform changes in program.
Explore and suggest additional opportunities for information products;
Suggest innovative approaches in program reporting both in terms of approach and delivery;
Participates in best practices working group within program.
Required Skills & Qualifications:
A minimum of three years of demonstrated experience in related work in reporting on program implementation and results. Must be familiar with Microsoft Office, have native-level writing skills in English, and have experience in writing reports on short deadlines. Experience in reporting, political journalism, and political analysis will be advantageous;
Previous experience working in the Middle East and on transition programs in insecure environments is desirable but not required; experience working on Syria is required;
Minimum of a bachelor’s degree in literature, journalism, or political analysis, or a related field;
At least 3 years of demonstrated experience in deadline driven, program implementation reporting environment;
Experience working with an international development organization and knowledge of reporting procedures, best practices, guidelines and tools for communications or MIS;
Knowledge of USG and other donor contracts, cooperative agreements, and grant regulations. S/he should be resourceful through technology, research skills, and relationship building and, with minimal supervision, be able to manage high volume work flow;
Native-level or near-fluent English written and verbal communication skills; fluency in Arabic is required;
Relevant computer skills with proficiency relevant software such as MS Office and other data management systems.
Desired Skills & Qualifications:
Experience working in a fragile or transitional state environment or security-challenged environments;
Advanced degree in a relevant field desired, but not required.
