Street Child is a major child-focused development agency​, specializing in Sierra Leone, Liberia,
Nigeria, Nepal and Sri Lanka. It has established itself as a leading organization providing quality
and sustainable education to thousands of children​. Managed out of our London headquarters,
we have supported over 63,000 children to access education in the last five years. We have
launched a very exciting new phase in Street Child’s development; the expansion into other
European regions like the Netherlands, Italy, Germany, France, Denmark, Sweden, Switzerland and
Spain.
At Street Child, we are very proud of our volunteer-based approach, keeping overheads low so that
as much funding as possible can go to our projects in West Africa and Asia. We are very lucky to
have fantastic volunteers committed to our cause and are now looking for an innovative individual to
support the expansion, marketing and fundraising in these new regions. We are looking for a skilled
and motivated individual ​(preferably from one of the countries where we are active: Italy,
Netherlands, Germany, Spain, France, Switzerland, Denmark or Sweden​) to join us in our
Barcelona office. The preferred internship duration is 6 months​, however shorter duration can
be discussed.
Street Child is seeking a skilled and highly committed individual with a background in
Communication and Media to join our team – on an intern basis. Salary is not available, the
internship is unpaid but some travel expenses can be reimbursed. He/she will work alongside the
international team in the Barcelona office, helping create awareness of Street Child’s work in
Europe. The The internship will provide valuable experience for someone looking to move into a
career in development and/or communication.

Key Tasks:

You will be part of a small team led by the EU Development and Marketing Manager. Below are
some examples of responsibilities:

  • Coordinate the communications and media strategy for the 8 European countries in
    which Street Child International is active in Europe
  • Social media activities and content; spreading our message, reaching new audiences
    and engaging with users to be part of Street Child
  • Updating information on Street Child's websites
  • Creating E-newsletter content (Mailchimp)
  • Producing high-quality marketing material such as Poster, Flyers, Brochure and
    Fundraising Packs following SC’s brand guideline
  • Writing high-quality copy for a variety of outlets including press releases
  • Promoting and maintaining SC’s partnerships, as well as supporting the Event Manager
    with Running and Challenge Events
  • Help communication and information flow on comms topics between the London and BCN
    office
  • Support the implementation of the Communications Strategy
  • Other ad hoc duties

Requirements:

  • Fluent in both oral and written English; native in one of our main languages (Spanish,
  • French, German, Italian, Dutch, Danish or Swedish); Spanish is a plus
  • Excellent written and verbal communications skills;
  • Basic experience in Photoshop and InDesign;
  • A creative and innovative mind;
  • A proactive and highly professional approach;
  • An eye for detail;
  • Relevant studies or work experience in marketing, public relations, advertising,
  • journalism, etc.
  • A passion for supporting the most vulnerable
  • A key to success in this position is to be highly motivated, self-directed and able to work
    independently
