General Position Summary

The Manager of Partnerships & Communications will play a key role in advancing Last Mile Health’s (LMH) fund development and advocacy efforts. They will design and deliver a tailored individual giving strategy to drive cultivation and stewardship of LMH’s individual donors as a means of increasing private sector revenues. This individual will also serve as the Primary Relationship Manager (PRM) for LMH’s portfolio of individual major donors, overseeing donor stewardship activities, and supporting organizational leadership with external engagements.

They will also lead the design and execution of an evidence-based marketing strategy aimed at increasing the organization’s visibility, ensuring brand consistency, and aligning communications efforts with organizational goals and targets. The Manager of Partnerships & Communications is responsible for strategically tailoring communications to a wide spectrum of audiences and supporting the effective execution of fundraising, marketing, and communications efforts.

Essential Job Functions

Fund Development Support

  • Oversee the entire individual philanthropic giving portfolio, including design and execution of a Major Gifts Program
  • Design, execute, coordinate, and evaluate the organization’s individual giving campaigns, including an annual fundraising appeal, monthly “sustainer giving” program, and major giving
  • Cultivate and steward lasting relationships with current and prospective corporations and foundations; plan and execute donor meetings to promote long-term engagement
  • Serve as Primary Relationship Manager for LMH’s Major Gifts portfolio and implement individualized cultivation and stewardship strategies for each current and prospective partner
  • Assist with content generation needed to support annual fundraising targets, including: expressions of interest, concept notes, proposals, grant reports, etc.
  • Assist with the development and execution of a fund development strategy for the Community Health Academy, liaising with the Programs Team and Health Investment & Policy Team as needed for content development
  • Work with the Director of Partnerships & Development to hone departmental strategies and goals to grow current and new funding streams

Marketing & Communications

Lead the design, execution, and continuous refinement of a marketing and communications strategy to ensure a unified, consistent brand identity across platforms, including a Wordpress-hosted website, various social media profiles (Twitter, Facebook, Instagram, LinkedIn), email marketing campaigns, and scheduled communications including quarterly and annual reports.

Strategy Development and Management

  • Develop and execute an evidence-based strategy to increase daily engagement on LMH social media accounts as a means of increasing brand recognition and driving traffic to the organization’s website. This includes review of all social media content and content development as needed

  • Manage a graphic designer to consistently deliver compelling, audience-tailored visual assets on time and at a high quality

  • Maintain a detailed editorial calendar to ensure that all of LMH’s communications (via blog posts, social media content, quarterly and annual reports, etc.) are synchronized, consistent, thorough, and aligned with established strategy

  • Manage all aspects of email marketing strategy including list segmentation, A/B testing, and scheduling

  • Coordinate the procurement of software products and vendor services for graphic design, web development, and other relevant projects in compliance with stringent procurement protocol

Content Development

  • Contribute to the development of marketing and communications assets including quarterly and annual reports, email campaigns, website updates and blog posts, social media content, and other deliverables designed for a diverse and growing audience of public and private sector funding partners and grassroots supporters

  • Develop and regularly upload new content onto LMH’s website; creating new webpages, editing and archiving old content where necessary

  • Schedule and post content to social media

Data and Analytics

  • Lead the development of robust processes for capturing and tracking website, social media, and email marketing analytics to improve conversion rates, maximize ROI for marketing and communications efforts, and strengthen donor engagement

  • Monitor, analyze, and report on online engagement analytics and utilize findings to optimize content and broader marketing strategy

Advocacy Support

  • Provide strategic direction related to marketing and communications to inform the development of advocacy materials designed for a global audience of government stakeholders and policymakers

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree required; relevant graduate degree strongly preferred
  • 7-8 years of professional experience
  • Experience working in fundrasing, perferrably in a marketing and communications position
  • Experience working in the health sector strongly preferred
  • Exceptional verbal and written communication skills and ability to develop clear and convincing presentation materials
  • Strong interpersonal skills and relationship-building qualities
  • Ability to work independently with limited structural support
  • Successful and proven negotiation, communication and organization skills
  • Generosity of spirit, sensitivity/diplomacy, and willingness to make sacrifices in service of the mission
  • Working knowledge of marketing theory and strategy
  • Experience leading teams to execute effective marketing and communications efforts
  • Knowledge of best practices in the collection and application of web and social media analytics
  • Experience using CRM tools (preferably Salesforce)
  • Familiarity with Wordpress, MailChimp, Adobe Creative Suite, and major social media platforms
