About the Development Manager Role

The new myAgro Development Manager is an enthusiastic self-starter responsible for planning, organizing, and driving forward the development efforts for myAgro. You will be the chief of the external systems and will build a best-in-class development structure that will support myAgro’s fast growing fundraising program with corporations, foundations, and institutions. Working closely with the CEO & VP of Development, the Development Manager will focus on three fundraising functions: Revenue Generation, Prospecting, and Communications.

Responsibilities

Revenue Generation

  • Responsible for an individual target ($) for new donors in year 1
  • Represent myAgro at external events and networking opportunities, e.g., industry conferences, workshops and funder convening’s
  • Ensure an active, dynamic prospect process by moving leads across the pipeline from cold stage to solicitation
  • Identify, develop, and implement solicitation strategies to grow the organization’s overall prospect portfolio
  • Manage the donor engagement cycle for all key prospects throughout the cultivation, solicitation, recognition, and stewardship phases
  • Manage your own portfolio of new major donors; maintain separate portfolios on behalf of the CEO and VP of Development
  • Utilize Salesforce CRM to a) actively manage and move prospect pipeline, b) track progress towards goals, and c) keep the VP of Development and Executive team apprised of successes and challenges
  • Work collaboratively with CEO and program staff to develop and articulate compelling cases for support

Prospecting

  • Collaborate with VP of Development to prioritize research needs
  • Research, document and maintain constituent data in the Salesforce CRM database
  • Create update and maintain donor and prospect profiles and reports

Communications

  • Persuasively articulate the mission, goals and program priorities of myAgro in written and oral presentations
  • Develop presentation materials, including research, slides, scripts, talking points and proposal collateral for prospect meetings
  • Manage the development and production of proposals, newsletters, brochures, and other development outreach materials to individual constituents, as necessary

Required Experience

  • Bachelor's degree
  • Salesforce savvy
  • 5+ years of direct experience and proven success in securing funding from foundations, corporations and governments
  • Knowledge of international development and/or international agriculture and rural development
  • Strong understanding of the project management cycle to achieve results

  • Entrepreneurial attitude, proven success in building a portfolio of institutional funders
  • Exceptional communication skills, both written and verbal, including compelling writing abilities
  • Strong problem solving, research, and analytical skills
  • Self-starter with a passion for working collaboratively with a small team
  • Ability to thrive and deliver results in an unstructured and dynamic environment
  • Advanced knowledge of Microsoft Office, donor databases (i.e. Blackbaud eTapestry), and online fundraising platforms
