Thousands of migrants and asylum seekers in northern Greece have been subject to appalling reception and detention conditions, with at-risk groups lacking necessary protection, Human Rights Watch said.
Some 2,900 people have arrived in Evros so far this month, mostly Syrian and Iraqi families. This is equivalent to half the estimated arrivals for all of 2017. In April land arrivals have outpaced sea arrivals.
The agreement builds on EASO’s existing operational support and aims to sustain the Agency’s support for the country’s response to the pressure on its asylum and reception systems while implementing the EU Asylum Acquis.
