With six weeks of declining numbers, the critical phase of Nigeria’s largest Lassa fever outbreak is under control, the WHO says. However, people could be infected throughout the year.
"We need to maintain vigilance and response operations, and ensure continued engagement with communities to help curb the further spread of Lassa fever," said WHO.
With emergency assistance as a priority, protection, resilience-based capacity-building activities will be a focus to strengthen national response mechanisms and ensure sustainability.
