The outbreak that started in June 2014 has spilled over to 2015. Greater Accra region continues to record cases each week. WHO stresses the need to halt the outbreak before the onset of the rainy season.

Cholera cases in West and Central Africa triple in 2014
The three most affected countries are Nigeria, Ghana and DR Congo which count for 93 per cent of cases and 80 per cent of deaths in the region. In 2015, there is a high risk of a major outbreak in the Lake Chad Basin and along the Gulf of Guinea.

Cholera outbreak in refugee sites at border with CAR
Eastern Region of Cameroon recorded its first case of cholera on November 1st. A total of 14 cases were recored in two refugee camps at the border with CAR as of November 6th.

Cholera outbreaks spreading in Ghana and Lake Chad Basin
With almost 21,000 cases, Ghana has a new record number, and the outbreak has already spread along the coast to Togo and Benin. The situation in Lake Chad Basin is of concern as well.
More than 1,000 cholera cases in last three weeks
Nine districts out of 16 have recorded cholera cases to date. Accra metro and Dadekotpon are the most affected districts, accounting for 87 per cent of cases.
