Indonesia: Mt. Gamalama Volcano - Dec 2011

Disaster description

On 4 Dec 2011, Mt. Gamalama erupted and spewed lava and ash on the island Ternate in eastern Indonesia. Since then, several eruptions have taken place. On 27 Dec, a flood of cold lava killed three and injured five. 2,368 people were displaced as of 15 Dec. (HOPE, 24 Dec 2011; Jakarta Post, 28 Dec 2011)
