MEXICO CITY, May 10 (Reuters) - Mexico's giant Popocatepetl volcano hurled steam and rock about a mile (two km) into the air on Sunday, the latest in a series of eruptions that were expected to continue during the week, officials and volcanologists said.

The volcano sprayed a light blanket of ash over nearby towns at 1:22 p.m. (1822 GMT), followed by two tremors, the Interior Ministry reported in a statement.

MEXICO CITY, April 21 (Reuters) - The "Popo" volcano near Mexico City spewed out a 2.5-mile (four km) high cloud of smoke, ash and molten rock on Tuesday, terrifying local residents and forcing authorities to close nearby schools, official said.

Authorities said flaming rocks spat out by the volcano 40 miles (65 km) east of the Mexican capital set trees on fire and shook windows of nearby houses.

MEXICO CITY, Aug 12 (Reuter) - Mexico's Popocatepetl volcano
on Tuesday released its greatest ash cloud since late June, when
it blanketed Mexico City with ash and forced closure of the
airport.

Ash flew more than a mile (about 2 km) into the sky on
Tuesday at 8:24 a.m. (1324 GMT), with strong winds blowing
particles southwest over the states of Morelos and Mexico, chief
volcano monitor Roberto Quaas told Reuters.

Should winds change direction, ash could billow toward
