Vanuatu: Tropical Cyclone Vania - Jan 2011
Disaster description
Tropical Cyclone Vania hit Vanuatu’s Tafea Province as a Category 1 cyclone on 12 - 13 January 2011. While the cyclone was low grade, its slow movement caused flooding, water logging and wind damage. A month after Vania, Tropical Cyclone Atu struck and caused further damage to the outer islands. Shipments of supplies to regions affected by Tropical Cyclone Vania were put on hold until Tropical Cyclone Atu passed. (IFRC, 20 Jul 2011)
