Disaster description

Typhoon Feria (local name "Nangka") made its landfall over Borongan, Eastern Samar on 24 June 2009. At the height of Typhoon Feria, 27 emergency incidents occurred in various regions: 6 landslides, 5 storm surges, 4 tornadoes, 7 sea mishaps, 1 heavy rain incident with hailstones, and 3 flash flood/flooding incidents. By 28 June 2009, a total of 22,763 families or 110,400 persons were affected in 373 barangays in 19 provinces of Regions Ill, IV-A, IV-B, V, VI, VII, VIII and NCR.
