Silver Spring, Maryland--In response to recent flooding in the southeastern states of Tabasco and Veracruz along Mexico's Gulf Coast, the Adventist Development and Relief Agency (ADRA) is providing aid to more than 2,500 flood survivors. Heavy rains caused numerous rivers and creeks to overflow and left hundreds of communities under water, affecting more than 400,000 in the combined states.

ADRA is operating five temporary shelters and providing three meals a day to nearly 400 people in Tabasco, capital of Villahermosa, at the request of local authorities.

MEXICO CITY, Oct 9 (Reuters) - Hurricane Norbert weakened to a Category 3 in the Pacific but was still a major hurricane as it headed on Thursday for Mexico's Baja California peninsula, the U.S. National Hurricane Center said.

Norbert had maximum sustained winds of 115 miles per hour (185 km per hour) and is expected to make landfall north of the city of La Paz, likely missing a direct hit on the beach resort of Los Cabos, a popular destination for U.S.

CARDEL, Mexico, Oct 7 (Reuters) - Tropical Storm Marco rolled over Mexico's Gulf coast on Tuesday, dumping heavy rains and flooding coastal areas but causing little disruption to the country's oil industry.

Rivers overflowed and rising floodwaters were three feet (1 metre) deep in coastal towns near the port city of Veracruz as the storm made landfall on Tuesday morning.
