On the night of 18 Sep 2012, a severe storm struck Paraguay causing damages in the municipality of Mariano Roque Alonso in the Central department as well as affecting homes and crops in the Ñeembucu department and other regions of southern Paraguay. As a result of the storm, five people were killed, approximately 100 were injured and more than 2,900 families were affected. (IFRC, 02 Oct 2012)
