1. In Namibia, 350,000 people have been affected by flooding. A flash Appeal of US$ 2.4 million will be launched soon.

2. In Angola, 200,000 people have been affected by flooding. A joint IOM-UNICEF-WHO CERF application of US$ 2.3 million has been submitted and is pending approval.

3. Cyclone Izilda, lying south-west of Madagascar, is dissipating, but could still cause more heavy rainfall in central and southern Mozambique.

Several families from in and around Pietermaritzburg in KwaZulu-Natal, who were amongst the worst affected by the recent storms that hit KwaZulu-Natal earlier this month, will receive much-needed assistance thanks to a group of celebrities.

The group of actors and artists, known as "Ambassadors for Change", have heeded KwaZulu-Natal Premier Sibusiso Ndebele's call to see the spirit of ubuntu in action, following the recent spate of natural disasters that hit the province.

Durban_(dpa) _ A storm warning was Tuesday issued in South Africa's KwaZulu-Natal province amid forecasts of further "ferocious storms" by as early as Friday, officials said.

Eighteen people were killed in a severe storm that struck the east coast province over the weekend, leaving what officials said was a "trail of destruction in its path."

Johannesburg_(dpa) _ The death toll in a storm that struck South Africa's KwaZulu-Natal province over the weekend has risen to 18, according to the South African news agency Sapa, citing government officials.

Officials called the storm monstrous. Its victims included five people - including a family of four - killed by lightning.
