Tropical Storm Linfa - May 2003

Disaster description

Tropical storm Linfa (local name "Chedeng") hit the island of Luzon in the northern Philippines on Tuesday 27 May 2003, causing landslides, flash floods and widespread flooding in five regions (I, III, IV, VI, and CAR). (OCHA, 30 May 2003) By 31 May 2003, the death toll rose to 41. Most of the victims drowned or died in landslides. (OCHA, 5 Jun 2003)
