Kuala Lumpur_(dpa) _ More than 4,000 people have forced from their homes by rising floodwaters in Malaysia's eastern state of Sarawak on Borneo island, a news report said Friday.

A total of 4,370 people from 26 areas have been placed at 27 temporary relief centres statewide since the evacuations started this week, the Star newspaper said on its website.

Heavy rainfall in the past few weeks has caused the levels of the state's many rivers to swell and flood residential towns.

The access road to the hilltop condos has been opened. MRC sent 600 packs of food via 5 (4x4) vehicles. Electricity has been restored to about 1,500 houses effected by the landslide.

KUALA TERENGGANU, Dec 8 -- The floods in Terengganu have now hit the Kemaman district while Cherating in Pahang is also affected, and forced the evacuation of more than 300 from both areas.

A spokesman of the Terengganu Security Council said 282 people had been moved out in Kemaman.

"This is the first time this year that Kemaman (district) has been hit by the floods," he said.

The spokesman said the number of evacuees in Terengganu was 1,210 as at 8 am.

KUALA LUMPUR, Dec 7 (Reuters) - Malaysian police on Sunday called off a search for more victims of a landslide near the capital that killed four people, forced thousands out of their homes and cut electricity supplies, local media said.

"There are no indications that there are still victims buried or trapped in the landslide," Selangor police chief Khalid Abu Bakar said, according to state news agency Bernama.

The landslide struck in an affluent suburb in Selangor state north of Kuala Lumpur early on Saturday morning, flattening 14 houses.

Malaysian Red Crescent deployed its volunteers from Selangor Branch and staff from the National Headquarters to the landslide area at Bukit Antarabangsa around 4.00 am. The team from Malaysian Red Crescent was the first to arrive at the site together with 3 ambulances. It was reported that three people were killed in the incident which buried 14 bungalows in two housing estates.
