Disaster description
According to successive UN situation reports that are referring to in initial government assessment reports, between 21 and 30 July 2025, heavy rainfall associated with the remnants of Tropical Depression Wipha caused widespread flooding and landslides across northern and central provinces of Lao PDR. A disaster update has been released following Tropical Depression Wipha, which brought heavy rainfall and triggered flooding, flash floods, and landslides across several provinces in Lao PDR between 21-25 July 2025. Provinces affected by Tropical Depression Wipha include Vientiane, Bolikhamxay, Luang Prabang, Xayabouly, Xiengkhouang, Houaphan, Xaysomboun, Khammouane, Bokeo. (IFRC, 14 Aug 2025)
