The Russian Emergencies Ministry’s employees are continuing dealing with floods in gardening societies and yards in Zelenogradsk Urban Area in Kaliningrad Region.

Rescuers drained all water from yards in the settlements of Zaostrovye and Grachyovka. Over 60 meters of the Medvezhya River banks were reinforced by sandbags. Over 120 tons of sand were used at the moment. 16 meters of the Trostyanka River banks were additionally reinforced, 20 more tons of sand were delivered, water is being pumped out from reclamation channels.

During the period between May and July 2017, 1,586 people received humanitarian assistance in the form of food and non-food items and clothes. In addition to this, several thousands of people received drinking water.

During today’s meeting of the RF Government Minister for Emergency Situations Vladimir Puchkov has presented a draft resolution on allocation of budget funding from the reserve fund to provide financial assistance to the people in Adygea affected by a natural disaster.

More than 780 houses and 908 yards were flooded and 5,000 people were affected in 27 settlements in Adygea when in late May 2017 heavy rains caused flash floods. The disaster damaged 4 facilities of housing and utilities and energy and more than 10,000 ha of farmlands.

During today’s meeting of the Emergency Ministry Board Minister Vladimir Puchkov noted that a special commission was dispatched to supervise payment of compensations to the people affected by flooding in Stavropol Territory.

“A special working group of Emergency Ministry’s officials headed by a deputy minister was dispatched to Stavropol Territory yesterday and started working there,” the Minister said.
