The Logistics Emergency Teams (LET) comprises four global logistics and transportation companies: UPS, A.P. Moeller Maersk, Agility and DP World.

The LET partnership is facilitated by the World Economic Forum since 2005 and it is now entering its twelfth year.

This second revised Emergency Appeal seeks 2,348,442 Swiss francs (reduced from 4,740,589 Swiss francs) to enable the International Federation of Red Cross and Red Crescent Societies (IFRC) to support the Peruvian Red Cross (PRC) to deliver humanitarian assistance to some 35,000 people (reduced from 50,000 people) over 12 months with a focus on the following sectors: health; water, sanitation and hygiene (WASH); shelter and settlement; disaster risk reduction (DRR); and National Society capacity building.

Highlights

UNICEF has provided humanitarian assistance in WASH, Protection, Nutrition, Health and Education to 123,560 children and families in the most affected district of Piura.

• UNICEF and Plan International have implemented 16 temporary classrooms located in the following shelters: Nueva Santa Rosa (10), Cristo Viene (2), Tupac Amaru (2) and Jesus de Nazareth (2). This action has reached around 450 children.

• To date, UNICEF has provided 220 school kits to the students of Santa Rosa, Cristo Viene and Tupac Amaru shelters.

  • The departments with the largest number of people affected and severely affected are La Libertad (26.4% of the total), Piura (24.9%),
    Lambayeque (11%) and Áncash (8%).

● El balance reportado por INDECI a la fecha indica que más de 1.7 millones de personas han sido damnificadas y afectadas en el país a consecuencia de lluvias e inundaciones.

● Los departamentos con mayor cantidad de personas afectadas y damnificadas son La Libertad (26.4% del total), Piura (24.9%), Lambayeque (11%) y Áncash (8%).

● Cerca de 31,339 viviendas se reportaron colapsadas y 25,684 viviendas quedaron inhabitables.
