Dominican Republic: Floods - Jun 2011

Disaster description

Early June 2011 heavy rains caused oods in Dajabón, Monte Plata, Puerto Plata, Sánchez Ramírez, San Cristóbal, San Pedro de Macorís and Santiago provinces. More than 4,000 people were displaced. (OCHA, 7 Jun 2011)

By 13 June, the floods have left 4 dead and forced more than 11,200 people to evacuate. Approximately six locations in the province of Duarte remain isolated by the overflowing of the Yuna River. The total number of houses damaged reached 2,180 of which 30 were destroyed. (OCHA, 13 Jun 2011)
