
Nepal: Floods and Landslides - Jun 2010
Disaster description
Due to incessant rain throughout June, July and August 2010, Nepal experienced flash floods, inundation and landslides in 43 districts across the country. All five regions of Nepal were affected, and the Nepal Red Cross Society reported that 183 people lost their lives whilst more than 1,600 families were displaced. At the government level, NPR 30 million was released from the Prime Minister’s relief fund for disaster mitigation and NPR 7.6 million was released from the Central Natural Disasters Relief Committee for response activities as required.
