Dominican Republic: Floods - Jun 2010

Disaster description

The heavy rains affecting the Dominican Republic over the past two weeks have left six people dead and 1,000 houses flooded in Santo Domingo and in several provinces of the interior of the country. Flooding caused 9,500 people to evacuate to official emergency shelters or houses of relatives and friends (OCHA, 5 July 2010).
