
Sri Lanka: Flash Floods - Jun 2008
Disaster description
On 2 June, heavy monsoon rains triggered flash floods in southwest Sri Lanka. The water swept over five districts (Kalutara, Ratnapura, Colombo, Galle and Gampaha), killed 16 and affected 173,778 people, according to official estimates. Landslides further added to the emergency. (WHO, 30 Jun 2008)
