Sri Lanka: Floods - Dec 2006

On 17 December, OCHA, UNICEF and MERLIN conducted a rapid assessment of the displacement caused by the flooding in Pottuvil Division. The National Disaster Management Center reported that 6,000 families and 2,200 families were affected as a result of floods in Pottuvil division and Lahugala respectively. On 18 December, a mini cyclone affected 27 families in Komari. The DMU reported that 27 houses were damaged. (IASC Sri Lanka, 21 Dec 2006)
