Luanda – One Hundred and nine families who had been living in tents for nearly six years in the Sapu neighbourhood, Bela district, in Luanda, received Saturday their own houses in Zango IV, in Viana district, under the resettlement programme of populations.

The families, mostly coming from Kilamba Kiaxi, had been victim of the rains that ravaged the population living in areas considered at risk in 2005.

Dondo, 17/04 - Five tons of several goods were donated Friday, in Dondo District, Northern Kwanza-Norte Province, by the Saving and Credit Bank (BPC), to the victimes of March 11, 2005, floods, which hit Kambambe locality.
The gift, worth at USD 10,000 will benefit 15,000 families residing in Dondo and others 4,000 at Massangano Commune.

Geneva, March 23, 2005 - Nine consecutive hours of rain on March 11 capped off weeks of heavy rains that have been falling since January in the Dondo Cambambe Municipality, 180 km southeast of Luanda in Angola. The resulting floods have caused major disruptions to life in the area, forcing thousands of people from their homes and destroying hundreds of houses.

Many families lost belongings, and some are facing severe food shortages.

Luanda, 03/21 - Around 10,000 people of the Kaxicane village, northern Bengo Province, victims of flooding , benefitted last Tuesday of a donation consisting of cloth, shoes and various medicines, offered by the Angolan Red Cross (CVA).

Speaking today to ANGOP, CVA's National co-ordinator for responses to disasters, Kiala Simao, said that the goods aim to minimize the situation of the flood victims who are homeless in that region of the country.

Luanda, 03/17 - A delegation of Technicians of the UNICEF, of the National Direction of Water (DNA) and Health Ministry (MINSA) will travel on Friday to Dondo town (northern Kwanza-Norte Province), with the objective to create an efficient system of awareness and mobilization of the families in the promotion of health care.

According to a UNICEF communiquè, the plan will be developed in line with the cycle of meetings called Municipal Health Days of Children, happening in the whole country since Monday.

Luanda, 03/15 - The deputy minister of Social Reintegration, Maria da Luz, left Tuesday for Dondo (northern Kwanza Norte Province), to hand some essential goods to the victims of the recent flood caused by the river Kapacala.
