TALKING POINTS

DDR: close to 57,000 now disarmed

As of today 56,779 former Afghan Military Forces (AMF) officers and soldiers have joined the Disarmament Demobilization and Reintegration (DDR) programme. From that figure 47,311 have entered the reintegration phase.

The disarmament programme is now going well in the regions of Kabul and Bamyan and Afghanistan's New Beginnings Programme (ANBP) anticipates completing the disarmament programme from the AMF according to the timetable, that is, by the end of June 2005.
