Two people have died in severe monsoonal floods in East Timor.

The body of a missing United Nations worker was recovered late on Wednesday, and another two people are still missing.

Hundreds of people have been displaced by the floods which have destroyed homes and crops and cut roads in East Timor's south.

Many have since been able to return home, but about 200 people are still being sheltered by the UN.

The UN and relief agencies have flown in food and water purification tablets.

Heavy rains are continuing.
