On January 28 (Tue), the Government of Japan decided to extend emergency assistance in kind equivalent to about 10 million yen, including tents, portable water tanks, water purifiers and plastic canteens, to the Government of the Republic of Malawi, which has sustained great damage from flooding.

LILONGWE - Rapid response from international donors has helped stave off a catastrophe in Malawi but millions of people remain at risk from lack of food, HIV/AIDS and floods, the UN Secretary-General's Special Envoy for Humanitarian Needs in Southern Africa, James T. Morris, warned today.
