Tajikistan: Floods - Aug 2002

On 7 August a flash flood struck the village of Dasht close to the administrative centre of the Roshtqala District in Gorno-Badakhshan Autonomous Province. (OCHA, 8 Aug 2002) The overall number of deaths was reported at 24, revised from the initial report of 28 casualties. 501 persons were displaced to neighbouring villages as of 9 Aug 2002.
