Summary

Rainfall amounts were down as the rainy season drew to a close. However, on the whole, season-long cumulative rainfall totals from May 1 to October 20 were normal to above normal and up from last year.

Aside from localized pockets of drought, which could affect crop yields, harvest prospects for the 2001/02-crop year are generally good. On the whole, grain and industrial crop (cotton) production should be better this year than last.
