Philippines: Floods - Feb 2000

Disaster description

A week of torrential rain at the end of January 2000 caused flash floods on the island of Mindanao in the southern Philippines. The affected areas were the so-called Region XI, which includes Davao Oriental, Davao del Norte and Compostela Valley, and Agusan del Sur, Agusan del Norte and Surigao del Sur in Caraga. As of 8 February, there were 68 deaths, 307,770 people affected. (OCHA, 8 Feb 2000)
