Kazakhstan: Flash Floods - Apr 2014

Disaster description

A flash flood triggered by a dam burst on 31 Mar 2014 killed five people and injured nine others in Kazakhstan's northern Karaganda region (oblast). The overflowing water flooded up to 354 houses in Kokpekty village. Some 400 inhabitants were evacuated as the flood water reached as high as 1.5-1.8 meters in the village. Within a few days the flood waters receded. (IFRC, 9 Oct 2014)
