The Iraqi Red Crescent Society(IRCS) has installed 330 tents equipped with relief and food items for the affected families due to the earthquake that struck the areas of Darbandikhan and Halapcha in Sulaymaniyah governorate.

The IRCS has reported in a statement that the IRCS teams have installed 330 tents in collaboration with Turkish Red Crescent in order to shelter more than 300 families in the areas of Darbandikhan and Halapcha, these tents are equipped with food parcels and relief rations.

The epicentre of this earthquake is located 32 kilometres from the city of Halabja. The Caritas network is responding to the relief effort in Iran and Iraq, after a 7.3 magnitude earthquake struck the Middle Eastern countries on Sunday 12 November.

Iran’s province of Kermanshah has been heavily affected by the earthquake, with over 530 people dead and over 8,000 people injured. In Iraq, there has been close to 10 fatalities, with over 500 people injured. Most of those affected by the earthquake in Iraq are located in the Darbandikhan region.

Tehran, Nov 15, IRNA – The latest reports released on Wedesday on the 7.3 magnitude earthquake that hit Kermanshah Province, western Iran, on Sunday (Nov 12) night, said that it has so far claimed at least 432 lives and injured over 9,388 others.

The fatal quake occurred at 21:48 hour local time (18:18 GMT). The epicenter of the quake was registered at 34.86 degrees latitude and 45.9 degrees longitude, at the depth of 11km, a shallow depth that can cause tremendous damage, in Ezgeleh region in Kermanshah Province.

Geneva, 15 November, 2017- The collapse of some state-built homes in Sunday’s earthquake in western Iran was evidence of corruption, Iranian President Hassan Rouhani told a cabinet meeting today, according to state media. 

The 7.3 magnitude earthquake hit western Iran as well as northeast Iraq on 12 October 2017, and has claimed over 450 lives and injured close to 7,700 people.

A severe, 7.3 magnitude earthquake has caused widespread devastation in the border regions of Iran and Iraq.

Following the earthquake on Sunday evening, volunteers from the Red Crescent societies of both Iran and Iraq have been providing assistance in searching for victims and conducting rescue operations.

The epicentre of the earthquake was located south of the city of Halabja, in Iraqi Kurdistan. The earthquake caused the most damage in Iran, where, according to the Iranian Red Crescent, at least 328 people were killed and another 3,950 were injured.

Tehran, Nov 14, IRNA – A 4.3 earthquake on the richter scale rocked Qasr-e-Shirin city in Kermanshah Province on Tuesday evening.

The quake, occurring at 18:46 hours local time, was registered in Ezgeleh suburbs in Kermanshah Province.

Kermanshah Province has experienced over 200 aftershocks since Sunday night.

Tehran University's Seismographic Center said the 4.3 degree quake was registered 10 kms deep inside the ground.

The Sunday night quake has reportedly left 432 people dead and 7,817 others injured.

Sulaymaniyah – On Monday, 13 November an IOM Iraq Mobile Medical Team arrived in Kani Bardina village, Warmawa district, to provide medical assistance to families, following an earthquake of 7.3 on the Richter scale the previous evening, which struck 32 kilometres from the city of Halabja in the governorate of Sulaymaniyah, Iraq.

Approximately half of the 40 homes in Kani Bardina village were damaged or destroyed in the earthquake.
