Indonesia: Earthquake - Nov 2008

Disaster description

On 17 Nov 2008, a powerful earthquake (7.7 on the Richter scale) hit Gorontalo Province on Indonesia's Sulawesi Island, killing six people and injuring 77 (DPA, 18 Nov 2008)

Buol Regency, in central Sulawesi, was among the hardest-hit areas. Twenty-five villages were seriously affected, with some 15,000 people displaced and 700 homes destroyed. (CWS, 19 Nov 2008)
