    With a view to providing humanitarian aid to the affected people by the earthquake which struck early in the morning of October 29, 2008 in Baluchistan and caused 176 people lost their lives, 312 injured and left over 20.000 people homeless, Turkish Red Crescent, immediately deployed 5 relief staff to Quetta for making a need assessment on 29th and 30th October, 2008.

Latest Report on TRCS activities in the Field

TRC/PRCS response to Balochistan Earthquake:

Turkish Red Crescent, in the awake of the earthquake that struck Ziarat, Balochistan on October 29th, started the immediate relief operation with a view to alleviate human suffering of the victims of the quake.

Turkish Red Crescent is supporting PRCS to provide food items and hygiene kits to the Earthquake affected population of District Ziarat worth of 50,000 USD.

An earthquake with the scale of 6,4 on the Richter scale hit 70 kmnortheast of Quettacity, the capital of Balochistan province in Pakistan. According to initial reports, 160 lives have been lost and about 15.000 people are estimated to have become homeless. The number of casualties is expected to rise.

According to information received by Turkish Red Crescent (TRCS) Global Disaster Monitoring Unit which works on a 24/7 basis, International Relief Unit in TRCS Operation Centre is immediately alerted and response activities are initiated.
